Scores on Exams 1-4, and Final Grades
Exam IV. The mean on the fourth exam was ~26/35 points, which is slightly below the means on previous exams. The top scores were also somewhat lower (e.g., there were no perfect scores this time).
Final Grades. Below, I've posted all of the scores we have on file for each student originally enrolled in the course. The file was sorted by the last four digits of your SSN. When there were two students with the same last 4 digits, I also included their first and middle initial. I've also listed the total scores and the final grade. The grades were based on the performance relative to the mean total score of the top ~3% of students in each section (this mean is designated as "X") (A: >90% of X; B+: 85-90% of X; B: 80-85% of X; C+: 75-80% of X; C: 70-75% of X; D+: 65-70% of X; D: 60-65% of X; E: <60%). This top mark was 129.6 in Period 3 and 131.5 in Period 5. Of the 484 students that were originally in the course, 139 received an A; there were also 80 B+'s, 70 B's, 50 C+'s, 34 C's, 30 D+'s, 15 D's, 22 E's, 41 withdrawals, and 3 incompletes. Please keep in mind that the two sections were graded on slightly different curves, therefore there may be two different grades associated with a particular score (one for Period 3 and one for Period 5).
Posted grades are final (except in the case of a clerical error). You may check your exams during Dr. Osenberg's office hours during the Winter/Spring semester. His office hours will be posted outside his door.
last 4 # of ssn ,midt1,midt2,midt3,midt4,TOTAL,Grade (wd=withdrew: i.e., name not on final class roll; in some cases, a student may have petitioned for a withdrawal but it was not in time to be reflected in the class roll. The registrar should deal with this.)
