Research
The overarching theme of my research is the evolutionary ecology of plant-animal interactions. I’m currently focusing on three topics:
- The effectiveness of habitat corridors in conservation and their impact on the spatial ecology
- The function of secondary compounds in ripe fruits, and
- The importance of fruiting plants to birds and, likewise, of birds to fruiting plants.
I'm also interested in migratory birds, especially those in Central
and South America:
And, I dabble in other areas:
- Mockingbirds' ability to recognize individual humans
- Ant ecology
- Digestive physiology
- And, even though my teenage daughters disown me when they hear me claim this: Creative uses of dung
