my photo I'm an associate professor in theoretical ecology, in the Biology Department at the University of Florida. My interests range widely in spatial, theoretical, mathematical, computational and statistical ecology; plant community, ecosystem, and epidemic dynamics; and whatever else takes my fancy.

IGERT program

We have just been awarded an IGERT for interdisciplinary training in math, statistics, and biology (and including allied disciplines -- geography, computer science, etc.). We are now accepting applications for students to start in the program in January. Find more information about the program here.

Book

I have published a book on statistical modeling for ecologists, in R. Feedback is welcome.

Research and ideas

Teaching

I have taught courses in Ecology and Evolution of Disease (u/g); Ecological Models and Data (grad); Integrative Principles (grad); and Integrative Principles of Biology II (u/g; ecology/evolution/genetics), as well as various special-topics seminars.
